The Edinburgh Walking Tour Company
Harry Potter Walk
Harry Potter fans will enjoy exploring the areas of Old Town Edinburgh that inspired the famous author JK Rowling in her writings.
From the atmospheric view of Edinburgh Castle built into the volcanic plug dominating Edinburgh’s amazing skyline to the 'zig zagging' of the winding streets inspiring Rowling's portrayal of Diagon Alley, we explore the people and places that fired her imagination.
We view the cafe where it is alleged she wrote much of the first of the Harry Potter novels and we walk the graveyards where names and characters will be recognised from the novels.
In the Old Town we can see the buildings that inspired the creation of Hogwarts School.
This tour takes in the most historical parts of The Royal Mile and the Old Town and the well-known Potter Row, concluding near to St Giles Cathedral where we will see the handprints of JK Rowling herself next to other famous Edinburgh people, all winners of the prestigious ‘Edinburgh Award'.
